She messed up everything for herself and team mates that have to give up their medals because of her admission of using drugs! She shattered the hopes and aspirations of thousands of young ladies that looked up to her as a role model.Damn, she messed up big time!!!

We all agree that Marion had a serious lack of judgment. Being driven to what length at what cost? The shame of it all may not be the metals that were taken but the realization of the just how "human" our beloved sports heroes are. In the United States sports heroes are sought after as if they were chiefs. Awed by many, envied by most. One might even bow to them should they think they might be taken in by the athlete. The standards established to be competitive quiet simply are extraordinary. Almost so, that no human, without assistance can compete. Marion Jones, many baseball players, along with so many others, have fallen to the temptations to push the envelop. For what? Why do athletes feel that they must go to such lengths? Is it the money? Endorsements? Power and recognition? I must say I am especially effected when a woman falls short of her intended glory. I believe we all are great but must be careful that our choices do not end up overshadowing our value.

Well said, brigafor. I think the lure of reward for being extra-ordinary in ones chosen sport is too great for some of these athletes, that they seek any extra means to be above their competitors. It's sad!!

Hi guys

Marion Lois Jones (born October 12, 1975), also known as Marion Jones-Thompson, is a former world champion track and field athlete. She won five medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia but has since agreed to forfeit all medals and prizes dating back to September 2000 after admitting that she took performance-enhancing drugs.[1][2]
In October 2007, Jones admitted taking steroids before the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics and acknowledged that she had, in fact, lied when she previously denied steroid use in statements to the press, to various sports agencies, and—most significantly—to two grand juries. One was impaneled to investigate the BALCO "designer steroid" ring, and the other was impaneled to investigate a check fraud ring involving many of the same parties from the BALCO case. As a result of these admissions, Jones accepted a two-year suspension from track and field competition, and announced her retirement from track and field on October 5, 2007.[3]

Thank for all friends
