  It has been almost seven weeks or so that  President Yar'Ardua of Nigeria has been reportedly ill and seeking treatment in a Saudi Arabian hospital.Hope he gets well.Having said this,the democratic system of government which we operate under separates power between  the Executive,Legislative and the judiciary.For each three branches to work effectively, the separate branches must work harmoniously.
Hence,there would be problem in effectiveness of the government.If for any reason the president is not able to perform the work that the presidency requires,he or she is required to transfer the duty of such office to the next person in line of succession,which in this case would be the Vice president.
     Why after almost seven weeks of Yar'Adua's seeking of treatment in a foreign hospital,power has not been transfer to the vice president ? We all pray for his timely healing,however the constitution must be followed.The leadership of a nation is not a personal heritage.It is very sad that,in this time of our long historical journey,tribal domination and wanton disrespect of the constitution is put above  progressive
implementation of democracy.Search your souls and do the right thing.The souls of over 140 million people should not be made to be played for parochial end of few!!Enough of the jungle democracy!!!!

Hello
For the third time in a month, we concerned Nigerians are constrained to speak out on the Constitutional crisis Nigeria is facing because of the refusal of President Yar'Adua to hand over the leadership of the country to his Vice President when leaving the country on 23 November 2009 for medical reasons as prescribed by the 1999 Constitution.

While we catalogued issues an available President would have dealt with in our second statement, recent events have exposed even further the vulnerability of Nigeria as she goes through an interregnum. These include but are not limited to the following;

I)A Nigerian citizen, son of a prominent Nigerian has recently been involved in an attempt to detonate an explosive device on a plane in U.S. airspace on Christmas Day. There has been no coherent response to this incident from Nigeria capable of calming the anxieties of either Nigerians or the international community because of the vacuum in Nigeria's leadership.

II)Until a few days ago, the 2009 supplementary remained unsigned thereby putting vital programs necessary for the economic well being of Nigeria in limbo, and making unconstitutional, extra-budgetary spending by agencies inevitable. In view of the fact that the proclivities of some members of Yar'Adua's kitchen cabinet for contriving signatures have been catalogued in recent charges now before a London Crown Court, Nigerians should be wary of recent claims of officials purporting to have travelled to Saudi Arabia to get the President's 'signature' on any document. We insist that any such 'signature' must be documented by a notarized and dated video recording, and a sworn affidavit by those that claimed to have witnessed the 'signature'.

 Most politicians in the country are nothing but tribal mongers, who would rather protect and guide what they consider "their birth right " to rule than protecting and follow the constitution.I don't know of anywhere in the world,where the leader of a government would be gone for so many weeks,without effectively transferring the mantle of leadership to the next in command.They make a mockery of democratic system of government.These are the people who are suppose to be democrats?Please!! No wonder nothing works!!
And where are the members of the National Assembly? What are they doing about this matter ?
